What It Is?
Mould testing identifies the presence, type, and concentration of mould spores in the air or on surfaces within a building. Mould can develop on drywall, insulation, wood framing, carpet, and other organic materials whenever excess moisture is present.
Why It’s Important?
Mould spores spread easily through the air and HVAC systems. Exposure can trigger allergic reactions, asthma attacks, and other respiratory issues, particularly in children, seniors, and those with compromised immune systems.
Identifying the source and extent of mould growth is an important step before any remediation, renovation, or demolition work begins, helping to protect workers, occupants, and indoor air quality.
What’s Involved in a Mould Assessment?
Site Inspection
A certified assessor conducts a visual inspection to identify visible mould growth, moisture intrusion, and conditions conducive to mould.
Moisture & Sampling
Air samples, surface swabs, or tape lifts are collected from suspect areas and compared against an outdoor control sample.
Lab Analysis
Samples are analyzed at an accredited lab to identify mould species and spore concentrations.
Report
A detailed report outlines findings, affected areas, air quality results, and recommendations for safe remediation.
